WHAT: In this clothed life drawing workshop, our model Lekhani will be doing a series of clothed poses which tell their journey of growing up Black in Cumbria and finding their confidence and power through theater. “No matter where I am, I’m holding my head up high and being myself”.

Carlidoscope is a group of global majority creatives in and around Carlisle and Cumbria.
Dani Kazuko Münzel, who will be hosting the session is an artist who works with portraiture, challenging the dynamics between painter and “subject”, the dominant “gaze”s in art, and how portraiture can be used to tell stories and change narratives.
Lekhani Chirwa, who will be the model, is from Cumbria and works as an Actor, Writer, Activist and Facilitator in Manchester.

WHAT: In this workshop you will play a quick fire game of Bananagrams, a word game where you will create a grid of words as fast as you can. Using the words in your grid, you will write a poem and then put it into a zine which you can take home!

Fajar is a multidisciplinary creative based in Manchester. Working mainly in print, collage and poetry, she take’s inspiration from the mundane to extract works which aim to express a sense of nostalgia, memory and personal history. Taking this concept, she has enriched her research through the facilitation of workshops across the city. She teaches both reflection and making, inviting others to explore how small, personal artefacts embed meaning in daily life.
